This is a piece of my artworks made recently...There was actually no particular reason to make this image for, i just felt something inside myself, absorb and express it through Illustrator; my most favorite tool...
I see this image as an expression of a kind of person who is soft, short of romantic, sensitive under a cold and mysterious appearance...
Yes, there is an idea within this image, a small and narrow space. The person seems to be cramped inside. You are right when saying being romantic is being like "flying" to vast space, free and maybe over optimistic...Generally, it is the way romance is...however in this situation, this is my idea to wrap the content in a narrow space to perform something missed, repressed and hidden within one's soul...

Did you draw it on paper first?
Where did you get the leaves? They're a really nice shape!
I like the fact that you've left all sorts of whitespace. Makes the piece feel airy and light, even though its got a black background
I did not draw it on paper...It's just a precious moment when i have some feeling and make it straight away.
About the leaves, it is an available prush style in photoshop ^^.
Pretty cool blog, best design with good meaning hiden inside, I like ur picture best....can be translation with a lot of meaning. Cheers
